NaNoWriMo……2020
It was a last minute decision to go for the NaNoWriMo this year. I had started in July this year, and had crashed out before the month was half way through.
It was a month loaded with festivals, kids tests, and life generally. I had a lot of other stuff going on. So many reasons, why this was the wrong time, and why it wouldn’t happen
But then suddenly, I signed up.
I also signed up to be part of the himalyan wirmos club organised by the
Himalayan Writing Retreat
.
The month and what it brought was unexpected in more ways than one.
I didn’t make the target of 50K, but got used to flexing the writing muscle daily.
The 44 k words that I managed taught me a lot about writing, about myself, and how much more i have to learn.
The first draft I managed to create is something that I will cherish, even though I don’t know if it will ever become a book
It has been a month of writing, exchanging ideas and thoughts, connecting with a lot of people, making new friends , and discovering so much about the world of writing.
In addition to the word count at NaNo , I have kept a small journal about my experience, which I will share soon, in the hope that it will help even a few of my friends.
Meanwhile, as the slowness of December steps in,I enjoy the winter sun , and promise myself that I will keep writing, keep going everyday….
